The black elder (Sambucus nigra) is a tree-like species with black fruits. This herb has been known to mankind and used for centuries because of its many properties. Elderberry is called a "natural pharmacy" because of its rich content of biologically active substances. Dried elderflowers, with or without stalks, are white or pale yellowish, with a faint odour and a sweet-mucous taste that subsequently causes throat irritation. The anthers are large, yellow, and double-nested. Used for various decoctions, tea, juice, extracts and syrups
