Our foundry boasts a long history dating back to the Schütz & Hertelhat engineering works, Mafa Wurzen for short, founded in 1879. This was followed 74 years later by the company VEB Maschinenfabrik und Eisengießerei Wurzen, which was transferred to the ownership of Esterer AG in 1991 and has been trading under the name "Esterer Gießerei Werk Wurzen GmbH" ever since. Together with its sister company in Altötting, Esterer Gießerei GmbH, the Wurzen-based foundry was acquired by Holding Topol GmbH in 2008. Together with Esterer Gießerei Altötting, our company is now one of the leading system suppliers in Europe. Our core areas are the manufacture of geometrically complex and core-intensive products. The Otto Junker high-grade steel foundry in Lammersdorf, Simerath (20 km south of Aachen), specialises in special alloys. Our range of materials offers customers a wide selection of high-alloy iron-, nickel- and cobalt-based varieties. These materials are melted in highly efficient induction ovens, using vacuum technology where required. Our range of products includes corrosion-resistant alloys, heat-resistant alloys, non-magnetisable alloys, hard-wearing alloys and multiple special nickel- and cobalt-based alloys. We also make cast ferrous materials designed to handle exceptionally high levels of stress corrosion from JUNKERALLOY® nickel-based alloys. We have been producing and supplying many of these materials for decades. We produce more materials than are shown on our website – about 100 varieties in total.
